Deleting or Unlinking a Picture from Family Search

Recently I received a question from one of our class members:
"Yesterday when I went into FamilySearch, there was a cute picture attached to my name; but the picture was not me. How can I take this off.  Is this a help desk issue?"

First, this is something you can do yourself, or you can have your Family History Consultant help you. I have done this by accident before on one of my own records too.

Below is an example of the a person that I need to remove the photo on:

Next, Click on Memories at the top of the page. (This one has a "2" in a black circle next to it.)

In this example, the picture on the left is the one we want. The picture on the right is a photocopy of the original picture that my friend did. He took and placed their names to everyone by their image, and then glued it to the back of the frame. So click on the left photo.

In this example we have a family group photo with several images. As you run you mouse pointer over the pictures, you will see a circle pop up around each figure in the photo.

To the bottom right of the photo itself, you will see Delete This Photo. (This is probably not the option you want.) To the left you see Contributed By: JoelHDuMondIII. If you click on the name of the person that contributed this photo, you should get that person's email address.  If you didn't add the photo, it would best to notify the contributor of the change and why.

If you click on the email address it bring ups several options for you to email that person.  I think this is specific to each computer.

Now going back a few screens, we are at....

Now if you have just a photo that you know is not yours and you want to delete it completely, you can press the Delete This Photo.  It will ask you if you are sure you want to delete this photo.  If you say yes, there is no way to bring it back without having to reload the photo if you still have it.  To just remove the link to a photo of someone in the photo, follow the procedure below:
(1) On the right side of the page is a list of all of the people that you have taken and identified in the photo.  Scroll down the list until you have found the person from whom you want to remove the link.  Click on their picture.
(2) Below the picture you will see a list of options: FAMILY TREE, MEMORIES, EDIT TAG, AND REMOVE TAG.
(3) Click on the FAMILY TREE.

At the bottom of the FAMILY TREE box you will see Unlink.  To unlink the picture from the person you have listed you would click Unlink.  This will unlink the picture from you or the person without deleting the picture from your photo file.

Thanks.
